The Huntsville Gem and Mineral Society (HGMS) was organized in 1958 by a small group of people who were interested in lapidary arts. The Society was officially incorporated in Alabama in 1965 as a non-profit educational organization. In 1961, we had 15 members. Today, we have over 200 members!
In 2017, we celebrated our 50th anniversary!
In 2018, we celebrated our 50th show!
In 2019, we’re celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing! At our July meeting, we shared a beautifully decorated cake honoring the Moon landing. And at the show in October, we’re going to display a genuine Moon rock. This will be the first time we’ve had a Moon rock at our show!
