The Huntsville Gem and Mineral Society (HGMS) was organized in 1958 by a small group of people who were interested in lapidary arts. The Society was officially incorporated in Alabama in 1965 as a non-profit educational organization. In 1961, the organization 15 members. Today, we have over 300 members!
Milestones
In 2017, we celebrated our 50th Anniversary!
In 2018, we celebrated our 50th Show!
In 2019, we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Moon landing!
At our July 23rd, 2019, member meeting, we enjoyed a beautifully decorated cake honoring the 1969 Moon landing.
At our October 8 – 10th, 2021 Annual Fall Show, we displayed a genuine Moon rock hosted by our own Lowell Zoller. This was the first time we had a Moon rock at our Show!
