RCJ Class

Bead and Jump Ring BraceletBack by popular demand!  November’s class is a Bead and Jump Ring Leather bracelet.  You will center a button on a 30″ length of leather cord and tie a knot to secure the button.  Then you will string large-hole gemstone beads and jump rings onto each “leg” of the cord in alternating patterns.  When the desired length is reached, you tie knots to form a loop; the button is passed through the loop to secure the bracelet.  The left-over ends can be enhanced with beads.  Pictured is a bracelet made with red jasper beads and gunmetal jump rings.  The kit cost is TBD.  You can pay for your kit the night of class.

The deadline to sign up for this class is Wednesday, October 24th.  Time is needed to order the large-hole beads.  The signup sheet for this class will be available at the October meeting.  You can also sign up by sending email to hsvgems@gmail.com.

Metalsmithing Class

Stacked EarringsOctober’s project will be stacked earrings.  We will construct earrings using both rivets and solder.  Two styles are pictured.  You will have materials in the kit to make both.  The ovals and triangles picture are three layer metal “sandwiches” which are riveted together.  A jump ring is soldered on the back to attach the ear wires.  The “filling” in the sandwich should be a metal color/texture that will provide contrast.  If you have some 24-26 gauge textured metal you want to use, bring it to class.  The Fan earrings are stacked and soldered.  The kit cost is $5.00.

The signup sheet for this class will be available at the October meeting and during Monday and Thursday sessions.  You can also sign up by sending email to HGMS@wildivystudio.com.

Mike_GlamOur own Mike Harrison, past HGMS President, will present a refresher course on rock tumbling.  Tumbling is a fun non-stressful way to bring out the beauty of beach pebbles, rock chips or any other small rocks you just can’t part with including left-overs from the lapidary shop!
