                Welcome to Our Website!

The Huntsville Gem and Mineral Society (HGMS) is a non-profit 501(c)(7) educational organization for people interested in the Earth sciences – gemology, mineralogy, geology, paleontology, lapidary arts and related fields.  Our primary purpose is to educate our members and the general public in these areas.  We offer interesting programs at our monthly membership meetings; exchange rocks, minerals, and fossils; host field trips; provide presentations to local school children and organizations; and share information about our club at local community events.  We welcome members of all ages including kids ages 8 – 18.  (Our Pebble Pups youth program has monthly meetings and field trips of their own!)  We also have a Fundraising Auction, a Picnic and Rock Swap, a Gem, Jewelry, and Mineral Show, and a Christmas Dinner every year.  Plus, HGMS members have access to a state-of-the-art Lapidary Shop and jewelry crafting activities (Rocket City Jewelers and Metalsmithing).  The Huntsville Gem and Mineral Society is a member of the Southeast Federation of Mineralogical Societies (SFMS) which is a member of the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS).
