Picture1Weather Safety Presentation for 24 March 2015

Weather Safety in the Tennessee Valley is a year-round necessity, from severe weather to winter weather, and even effects from landfalling hurricanes and tropical systems along the Gulf Coast. The presentation will cover thunderstorms, tornadoes, flooding/flash flooding, as well as how to prepare for each weather ‘season’.

Chelly Amin is originally from Huntsville and attended Madison County High School.  Chelly graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Operational Meteorology in 2007.  She received a Master’s Degree from MSU as well in Operational Meteorology in December 2010. Chelly has been with the Huntsville National Weather Service (NWS) office since June 2006, as a student-intern, Forecaster, Hydrologist, and currently as the Observations Program Leader.    Chelly states, “I can honestly say that this is my dream job, and something I’ve wanted to do since I was very little. For the locals in the room, the November 15, 1989 tornado was the event that made me want to be a Meteorologist (F4 tornado on Airport Road)”.
